News about the Guildhall Theatre in Derby
Progress has been made towards reopening Derby's Guildhall Theatre after years of being empty. Key Labour councillors have given the green light to ambitious plans to revive the Grade II Listed building in Market Place, which has been shut since 2019. The plans also include enhancements for Derby Theatre.
Both projects are made possible by the £20 million funding allocated to Derby from the Government's Levelling Up pot. The £10 million assigned to the Guildhall Theatre will aid in restoring the Grade II listed building to its former glory and reopening it to audiences.
